Cork Head of the River, the club's first competitive event of 2013 was held on the Marina on Saturday 23rd February.     The club had a large entry and we had some excellent results culminating in winning five events which was a very satisfactory outcome.

It was the first competitive event for a number of our younger members who joined in 2012 and we hope that they all enjoyed their first outing.

Particularly noteworthy was the win in the Women's Junior 14 coxed quad (WJ14 4X+) where a crew consisting of Chelsey Minehane, Aoibheann McCarthy, Aine Buckley, Jennifer Crowley and Caoilean Buckley (cox) beat a competitive field in their very first outing.   Well done girls!

Our Men's Junior 16 8 also recorded a first win in this event in any regatta for a long time.   An exellent result and a good portent for the future.

Other winners were Andy Harrington (MJ18 1X), Andy again and Jack Casey (MJ18 2X) and Donal Smith in the MM 1X (the new boat yielding immediate results!).   We also had five second places including Luke Carroll and Colm Hennessy who were beaten in the MJ18 2- by just 0.8 secs.

Congratulations and well done to all who took part and represented the club so well

The club would also like to thank all those members and parents who volunteered for running the shop, manning launches, car park attendance, slip management, cleaning up and all the many other tasks that go into contributing to a successful event.

Our next outing will be the rescheduled Limerick Head of the River on 23rd March.
